San Gimignano and its towers

SAN GIMIGNANO AND ITS TOWERS

We will visit together San Gimignano, one of the best-preserved medieval villages in Europe. That is why it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site!

Our departure is at the majestic Porta San Giovanni and then we will walk along the main central road, traced on the historic Via Francigena, which still connects the most important cities, from north to south of Italy and Europe. For sure, we will stop to learn more about its tall towers, history, traditions and legends.

We cannot avoid a photographic shot on the walls with the green hills of the valley and its medieval alleys on the way to the two main squares: Piazza della Cisterna and Piazza del Duomo.

If you are not so tired after this walking, we can reach the ancient fortress and climb up a tower to enjoy the view over the neighboring territories and the Chianti hills. Otherwise we will taste the award-winning Gelato or a glass of Vernaccia, the best DOCG white wine in the area!
